2014 Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Medoc

Château Cantemerle is one of only five Cru Classé Left Bank chateaux in the Haut-Médoc (the others are La Lagune, Belgrave, La Tour Carnet, and Camensac). It’s situated just south of Margaux in the hamlet of Macau. Well known for solid, terroir-driven Claret, the house style is geared toward savory fruit and an earthy, herbal essence. Their 2014 is fuller-bodied offering with solid structure

and firm tannins. It shows all of the components we look for in a young Bordeaux, and a little time has only been good to this wine. Its modest, as always, price makes it worth socking a few bottles away as it approaches its drinking window of 2024 – 2050.
