2015 Domaine Gabriel Billard Pommard Les Vaumuriens

Availability: Out of stock

As good as 2014 was for Burgundy’s white wines, 2015 was the vintage for the region’s reds! The wines are marked by their rich and powerful structures and their lively acidities. In Pommard, the Vaumuriens vineyard is west of the village, bordering Volnay and Pommard’s most famous cru, Les Rugiens. Gabriel Billard was a 6th generation winemaker, and he passed his domaine down to his two daughters, Laurence Jobard and Mireille Desmonet in 1989. The wines are now made by Laurence’s daughter, Claudie Jobard, who is one of Burgundy’s up and coming, hot winemakers. Apples don’t fall far from their trees, as Laurence was head enologist at Maison Joseph Drouhin for decades. The wine has spicy aromas of dark, plummy fruit and the palate is rich, focused and powerful. Its structure is similar to the 2010 vintage combined with the ripe fruitiness of 2009. Only 250 cases of the Vaumuriens were made. Drink from 2021-2035.
