2015 was a warm vintage in Burgundy. This led to evenly ripe fruit throughout the region. Any concern about the vintage would mainly focus on the weather’s affect on acidity levels. In the cellars at Pernot-Belicard, the fruit came in rich and ripe, yet still had fresh acidity to keep things in balance.
Philippe Pernot is the grandson of Puligny-Montrachet living legend Paul Pernot. He married into the Belicard family, taking over the domaine, and has been at the helm of Pernot Belicard since 2009. Together with his wife, they tend close to 6 hectares in and around Puligny-Montrachet. The Premier Cru Les Perrières vineyard sits northwest of the village between Clavaillon and Les Referts vineyards.
As for the wine, it sings Puligny-Montrachet, with its stony mineral frame around the crisp white citrus and orchard fruit. The palate is fresh and lively with dazzling complexity, and it has a long and intense finish.
