2016 Chateau Calvimont Graves

Château Calvimont is the second-label of the regal Château de Cérons. Cérons is famous for its sweet wines (it's the next town north of Barsac); this label represents their effort to produce quality dry wines for a very fair price.

Since 2012, Xavier and Caronline Perromat have managed the family estate, and their production of non-sweet wines have garnered some serious attention.

This 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot has that Old-World feel, with aromas of dark, musky cassis and black cherry, yet herbaceous notes as well. Hailing from the Graves appellation, the inherent earthy mineral is detectable and a part of the wine’s overall complexity. The tannins are soft and manageable, so it’s a wine ready to drink now.
