2016 Domaine Michel Bouzereau Bourgogne Blanc

Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau is unquestionably one of the superstar winemakers in Burgundy. He never misses a step, no matter what the vintage conditions, and in a solid vintage like 2016, his wines are utterly sensational. Allen Meadows of Burghound fame, has said, "If you aren't familiar with the Bouzereau wines, do yourself a favor and find a few bottles to try."

You enjoy getting a Business Class upgrade when you've paid for an economy ticket, right? Then you should seriously consider Bouzereau's Bourgogne Blanc.

The vines for this cuvée are located in the villages of Puligny-Montrachet (Les Champs Perriers is the name of the lieu-dit) and Meursault (Les Magny and Sous la Velle). But the wine is labeled simply "Bourgogne Chardonnay." The oldest vines in these parcels are 60 years of age; the average is about 40. The wine is made with the same care as Bouzereau's top Premier Cru bottlings, though with less new oak used.
