Tinto Velasco was once a popular regional Spanish varietal that now has only 50 known hectares planted in the world! It requires a long growing season, typically harvested in late October or early November. The grapes for Estacada are grown at elevations above 2000 feet. We were charmed by the dark berry flavors, subtle herb notes and dusty tannins of this chewy red. Tapas anyone?
